How do you avoid excessive use of smartphones?

Smartphones take up lots of working time in our lives. people spend an average of 6 hours per day on their smartphones, weekdays average more smartphone use than weekends. Most of the time they spend scrolling reels on Instagram. Smartphones make things easy but they also destroy our lives when we do not use them in the right manner. These are the following ways to avoid excessive use of smartphones:-

  • Never unlock your phone just after waking up - We have a habit of using phones just after waking up and this leads to wasting our whole day. So try to avoid at least 3 hours of not using your phone after waking up. If you need to check urgent email please use your laptop. Believe me, this makes your whole day productive.

  • Turn off unnecessary notifications - When we turn on the Internet, there are lots of notifications we get, but only a few of them are important to us. We turn on our internet for some important search or task, but this notification distracts us and we may go to another track. So go to the mobile notification setting and turn off unnecessary notifications.

  • Set a daily time limit - Please set a daily time limit for social media apps. This is very important because most of the screen time we spend on social media. So go to your social media app settings and there you see the set daily limit section, set your daily limit as per need but try to minimise it as much as possible. In my case, I set for 15 minutes for every individual social media app.

  • Delete Instagram if not needed - This is the platform where we waste most of our time. You know even Instagram influencers use Instagram at weekends. They schedule whole week posts on weekends and all working days they spend on content creation. So if you still want to use then delete Instagram on Sunday night and install it on Saturday. This reduces 60 per cent of your screen time.

  • Check digital well-being every night - In every smartphone digital well-being section in the setting, shows how many hours you spend on the phone on particular days on which applications. Before going to bed please check how much time you spend and analysis is spent on productive work or not. If not then try to reduce unproductive time spent on next day. This helps you a lot in reducing your screen time.

  • Make sure not to keep your phone near your pillow - At night we keep our phone near the pillow. This is the biggest mistake because it creates the biggest health problem in future and also a 100 per cent chance that you unlock the phone just after waking up. So try to keep your phone away from your bed.

I think if you follow these tips, you definitely reduce your screen time to a minimum and and use this time in your productive work.
I hope this article helps you and please give your valuable feedback on this.
Thank you!
